Now the hard part begins – maintenance! I have struggled with my weight all my adult life. At my heaviest I tipped the scales at 142kg. Over the last 4 years my weight has slowly reduced but I struggled to lose the last 15 – 20kg.

Undertaking the 8 week challenge gave me the incentive I needed to get motivated again. It has been hard work and I have had to dig deep to encounter levels of self-discipline previously undiscovered. However the hard work has all been worth it.

I credit my weight loss to my Personal Trainer – Sophie Pearson, who has inspired and motivated me to achieve my goals.  In keeping with Sophie’s healthier food recommendations and tips, complimented with her varied training program, I am losing weight weekly and improving my strength and fitness.

I look forward to my personal training sessions, which I find challenging and enjoyable.  My favourite is definitely the boxing.  I’ve never considered myself as a “runner”, however since Sophie introduced me to the treadmill, I’m building on my stamina and enjoying the experience. Two months into my training program and I’m feeling really inspired and excited.  I strive to perfect the technical elements in my training and look forward to things to come.

On the 28th of December 2009, I decided to face my fears and weigh myself after months, if not years, of feeling my health and fitness was in a downward spiral. 

100 kilos glared back at me from the illuminated display…I couldn’t believe it! It was that day I decided to change my life and one place was instrumental in helping me reach my goals…that place was Gfitness Rhodes.

I had joined Gfitness not long after the club had opened in 2006 and my training regime had been sporadic over the years. Sure, I received the reminders in the mail but if I could walk past the gym several times a day and not feel guilty, there was no way a post card was going to change my attitude. 100 kilos was another story.

The very next I started training with purpose and I have been a regular at the gym, most days attending lunch time and evening training sessions.

Gfitness made it easy…I could train in any weather (which helped me remain focused), there was always a friendly face at reception offering encouragement (which helped me remain motivated) and equipment was always available (which meant no delays)…although Gfitness couldn’t force me to return day after day, they made it easy to…I had no excuses and no-one else to blame.

After 10 1/2 months of consistent training, I am very near to achieving the targets I set for myself a year ago. I have dropped from a size 18-20 to a size 10, have lost 35 kilos and feel fitter and healthier than I have for years.

Although I don’t owe it all to Gfitness, I couldn’t have done it without them!

I love G Fitness mainly because of the staff. My favourites are Hylton and Rob G. It’s a supportive and friendly environment. The staff at G Fitness have taught me a lot and are always very motivating and encouraging. Best advice I have received from training here is, “it’s not about how heavy you lift it’s about the tecquote openhnique”.

I joined G Fitness over a year ago. I was over 100kg. Since then I have dropped my weight down to 90kg. I love my food, I eat whatever and whenever I want, but thank god for G Fitness I have this sexy physique. 

I train 4 or more times a week, otherwise I get depressed. My favourite piece of equipment is the cross trainer. I spend at least an hour or more on it each time I train at G Fitness. I train to look half decent.

Hylton has been amazing throughout my pregnancy. I am currently 31 weeks pregnant and am still training twice a week under Hylton’s guidance to a program that he has tailored to assist in staying as fit and strong as possible throughout pregnancy whilst keeping in mind the changing needs relating to a pregnant woman’s body. Hylton’s research and knowledge has been extensive and impressive and it has made for a very easy pregnancy by keeping as fit and mobile as possible which in-turn should hopefully lead to a faster recovery after quote openthe birth.

My husband and I were having difficulty conceiving and after going for tests, I was diagnosed with having PCOS – meaning that I did not ovulate. 

Both my GP and fertility specialist suggested that I start a fitness routine as well as a low GI diet because one of the symptoms from PCOS is additional weight gain which in turn can affect the chances of conceiving.

This was the push that we needed and after being introduced to Hylton we haven’t looked back.  My husband and I attend our personal training sessions together and with Hylton’s motivation, help and advice we both found that we lost weight, became toned, stronger and fitter, had a lot more energy and motivation and really began to look forward to our training sessions.

Hylton has a great personality and has the ability to make each session different, which in turn, makes it more fun and interesting.

It has definitely been money well spent for us.  After having undergone seven unsuccessful IVF attempts over three years which equated to thousands of dollars – it took the help of a naturopath and Hylton’s ongoing training sessions for us to successfully conceive.

It’s funny how such a small change could make such a massive difference with my outlook on life…… The difference not only in my health and fitness but also my confidence and personality has been significant. I am generally happier and more relaxed and my relationships are healthier. I am so glad I began PT and recommend everyone do it to kick start a new and healthier waquote openy of life!

Prior to PT I felt unhappy and inadequate. My body felt foreign and slow and I was miserable for it. My self confidence was low and my relationships were suffering. My Husband said going out with me was a nightmare because I was never happy with my appearance and could ruin an entire night with my self doubt. 

However once I started PT it was like a shadow was lifted. It’s funny how such a small change could make such a massive difference with my outlook on life. With my wedding coming up in April this year, Cara helped me set some achievable goals focusing on weight loss and toning up my “problem areas” I wanted to lose approximately 15 kilos and tone up my shape. Cara made that happen! She listened carefully to what I wanted to achieve, but even better, she took notice of me and the way I functioned. The programs that she wrote suited my goals but also my needs – every activity was challenging but achievable and more importantly FUN! I actually looked forward to exercise. I was also really impressed with the way Cara kept me going even when I was lacking energy. Her firm but friendly demeanour meant I worked harder and went further than I ever could on my own. She also addressed my diet and day to day exercise out of the gym. She was not only my trainer, but also a friend.

I am your average middle aged man, overweight and unfit, pretty much as most of the population. My daughter who studied to be a personal trainer got me started at Gfitness about 12 months ago. Like everything I was going to give up and quit as soon as the going got tough, I started making every excuse not to come. UNTIL my daughter suggested I go to Inge. This was the change I needed, Inge had the maturity and expertise to lead me into a fitness programme gently, taking into account my age and lack of flexibility . She new that I only wanted to become more flexible for my passion playing GOLF, and I wasn’t interested in becoming a muscle man. With her experience in rehabilitation she has managed to raise the level of my fitness in just a couple of months, so much so that I am now coming to see her twice a week. I found that once a week was all that I was going, and didn’t have the discipline to come more often, the fact that I pay for 10 session blocks makes me turn up, where I would have disappeared by now. I would like to say I am now much happier and healthier now Thanks to Inge’s perseverance. So Thankyou Inge and Gfitness for what you have helped me do.

It’s important to start with the fact I hate having to exercise but it was prescribed by my physio as part of my strengthening program to help me regain all I had lost through injury 

I was lucky to have Inge for my first session, that was 2 years ago. I have managed to keep coming all this time due to Inge’s ongoing support. It seems no matter how I feel when I come in I always leave with a smile. Why? Inge is very perceptive to my needs, whether it be tired, stressed or I need extra push myself the session fits, it could be stretching, yoga, cardio, improving my balance (important for an ice skater!) helping me regain my body sense. She is always supportive, when I doubt I can do it she reassures me.

I use to hate going to the gym. After recovering from a serious illness, I was no longer as active as I use to be and found exercising unexciting.
